Section 15.7. A Maritime Protection Agency in co-operation with Police Scotland is tasked with: protection and policing of the natural and economic assets within Scottish Territorial Seas out to twelve nautical miles, a contiguous zone out to twenty-four nautical miles and of the Exclusive Economic Zone, as set out under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; effecting compliance with Maritime Law and coordination of search and rescue of at-sea operations.
