Section 12.17. Not sure how this would work in practice but some means of recognising that national politics may well differ from those at a local level.
Section 12.17. This seems an extraordinary proposal, as the wording may be taken to forbid local candidates to stand under political party banners. Surely this was not intended?
Section 12.17. The intent appears to be to have individual councillors stand purely to represent their constituents on relevant local issues. Currently many community councils function without introducing party politics and thus the council is not divided on party political issues but purely on relevant local issues.
